Splash Page: It was Friday and Halloween was a week away. And the best part thought Joe, Aunt Gertrude was going to arrive later that night.
“Mom, how come Aunt Gertrude doesn’t stay with us all the time?” asked Joe who was sitting in the kitchen watching his mother prepare dinner.
Laura paused for a moment as she thought of the best way to answer her young son.
“Well….your Aunt Gertrude has family and friends that she loves so we have to share her with them.”
“Oooh…kinda like how Frank and I have to share our toy cars?”
“Something like that,” chuckled Laura.
“I’m glad Aunt Gertrude comes to visit during Halloween and Thanksgiving and Christmas! She makes the best caramel apples!”
“Yes she does. She makes really great pumpkin pie and Christmas cookies too!” Laura’s eyes sparkled with glee at her smiling son.
