Ok so i was reading the 1st Harry Potter book, and i got to the chapter 'The Mirror of Erised'
Now am i just slow, coz i've only just realised that Erised is desire spelled backwards:o :o
Did anyone else notice this?
Nope! I only found out because I read it elseware.
When Harry looks at the mirror and sees writing along the top, the entire phrase can be read backwards to read "I show not your face but your hearts desire."
And, yes, I felt silly that I hadn't noticed!:o :o :o :o :o :o
I never noticed either, but then, when you're used to reading stuff with strange languages thrown in [magic, Elvish, Dwarvish, all those things from Tolkien], you start taking odd words for granted without trying to see if they're something else in English!

Don't feel bad, I never picked up on it either. Like JD, when you read books with alien or magical or whatever different language is thrown in there, you tend to skim over them rather than try to decipher them.

I actually read the entire phrase backwards the first time I ever read the book.
:D
(Of course, back THEN, I hadn't read so much fantasy, and like JD, now I tend to skip over the Gobbledy!)
