So which Hardy Boys series is do you like the most? Why?

1. Blue-spine (1-58)
2. Digests (59-190)
3. Casefiles
4. Undercover Brothers
5. Clues Brothers
6. Supermysteries (w/Nancy Drew)
7. Ultra Thrillers (w/Tom Swift)*

*I don't even know if Ultra Thrillers qualify as a series because there were only two of them, but I threw them in anyway.

I picked the Casefiles because, first, they're the ones I've read the most of and second, they have more action and more emotion (not much but it's better than nothing). :) But I also like the UB series because of the different POVs. I also like the Supermysteries but sometimes Nancy gets on my nerves because she tends to take over.

I'll go with Casefiles, they being more 'modern.' But not as irritatingly 'with it' as those Undercover Brothers! *eye roll*

Blue spines! Especially the orginal texts. Probably because those were the first I read. So I guess it's nostalgia as much as anything else. :)

I agree with Sal. The original originals!:D When prohibition was still in force, the boys were thrilled with the thought that they would be traveling by train and when air travel was almost unheard of!

Oh my I have to give this some thought!

I love the boys in the bluespines but liked the few emotional gems in the casefiles. The digests, I'm kind of indifferent too - thought again, there are some gems among them too...

I do enjoy the Clues Brothers... and the Undercover Brothers but they are definitely not my top favorite...

Nancy ticks me off in the Supermysteries and I have trouble following the Ultra Mysteries, too techno for my favorite liking....

Hmmm - so I have to narrow it down from the bluespines to the casefiles.

Okay I pick the casefiles only because I tend to reread them more than the bluespines. Mind you I only reread a handful of them...

Could I make this anymore complicated? LOL!!

I do enoy the graphic novels too!!

I'm the odd one out who picked the SMs (yes, I know the boys take a bit of a backseat - but the other crossover books with Nancy weren't listed! And I love those three as a team.)

Tee hee! I'm not surprised - you are a Nancy gal! :D

*Laughs* I suppose it is really obvious, since my fics have all three working together...as well as the F/N pairing. (Though I really could do a fic without it...it's just so much more fun to write than Callie/Frank and Ned/Nancy!)

I almost allowed multiple choice but ultimately decided against it. I wanted to know what you guys would pick if you had to have just one. :)

It is hard to pick, isn't it? There's a few special ones in each series that grab your attention. But I find most of those in the casefiles so...

What other crossovers with Nancy are there? I only know of the SMs. And I like the SMs too - mostly because of the N/F stuff (I don't really like Callie that much) - but I can't stand when Nancy gets more credit for solving cases than the boys do. They're ALL good detectives. They should equally share the glory. Hmm... I think my next poll will be about little Miss Drew. :p

I freely admit I do not like Nancy and have only ever seen one or two fan fics in which I've liked her. I can't help it but she gets under my skin. And I guess I am in the minority because I like Frank&Callie and Nancy&Ned and never understood why the books had tried to pair Frank and Nancy.

Can't a girl work with a couple of guys as just friends without there being some sort of love-attraction relationship? I personally was very angry with both Frank and Nancy for basically two-timing Ned and Callie when they kissed! If it had been the other way around with Ned or Callie sharing a kiss with someone else, or lusting after someone else, the fans would have revolted!

But that is just me :D

Yep - which is why one of these days, I'll write a strictly platonic fic - I'm just having too much fun with N/F right now!

Cokey, there's a handful of stuff that have the trio working together, besides the SMs (but strictly platonic): two SuperSleuths books (7 short stories in each book), Campfire Stories (7 short stories to honor the anniversary of Campfire Boys/Girls), the Be A Detective series (6 choose-your-own-adventure books), and the novelization of The Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew Meet Dracula (which does have N/F tension). :D I'm hoping for season 2 of the old show to emerge, just for those crossover eps!

I voted for the Casefiles. I have read a few books of Orginials, Digest and also the UB and SM. I do like the UB books and I also like the SM's although like everyone else, Nancy does get on my nerves! I'm with Phoenix, I like fanfic Nancy better!

I can't think of a reason why I like N/F pairings except that I like to see Frank with someone different once in a while. I like almost any story that has him with someone else. I especially like Megan Wright.

But not all Callies are bad. I like Red's (I think that's Alaina) Callie, the Callie in January Thaw and the one in Choices of the Heart/Consequences... I don't know! I can't decide. One mintue I can't stand her and the next she's okay. Depends on the writer, I guess.

I agree with JD. I love the casefiles best of all. Mostly because they are modern enough not to appear dated as yet, but not too full of irritating one liners that the new series seems fastooned with. :)

I prefer the Casefiles mainly because you do get the odd snippet of emotion in them e.g Joe's tears in Dead of Night and Joe attempting to kick furniture over in anger in Nowhere to Run. Good stuff.:)

It was a hard call but I went with casefiles. I like the action and adventure and the little bit of emotion that they grace you with. lol I love the old time feel of the OTs. And some of the digests are good ( I think they're growing on me since i've started getting a website ready for them). I liked the SM's (still missing just one more). I kinda liked the F/N stuff in them. it was just annoying that they would have them kiss and then regret it and so on... if it was going to .ake them feel guilty they should have never done it in the first place! I like the POVs in the UBs... but that's the only thing I like. lol Sparrow, I want them to comeout with the 2nd Season to come out too for that reason! :)

Ah, but sometimes you don't know you're going to feel guilty until afterwards. I've done it, thought it was exciting, and then felt just awful IMMEDIATELY afterwards. The one and only time I've ever kissed someone who was already in a relationship with someone else. I'll NEVER do that again. Goes against my morals big time. The demon drink stikes again!

I was torn between Casefiles and Blue Spines. Casefiles won out by a hair on the if I have to pick one...

I guess I'm the weirdo that voted for Digests. <g> It was tough deciding between originals & digests - they both have some GREAT ones - but volumes 59-85 have some really excellent stories.

I really like the digests as well, Austin. Second favourites to the casefiles for me. :)

Reading through the posts, I started knowing exactly which series was my favorite but the more I thought about it, I don't know. If I have to pick just one it would definitely be the Casefiles. I have all but about ten of them and I like that they're more modern and more realistic. But Blue Spines would definitely come in second. There are a good dozen Blue Spines that I could read over and over and over again: The Twisted Claw, What Happened at Midnight, While the Clock Ticked...I'll stop now.:)

:) It's allowed. I love the Casefiles for their realism--the boys just seem more real. I grew up with the Blue Spines--that's all the school libraries had in the 70s and 80s. The Blue Spines are good, there are several I dearly love (Austin, I forgot to mention the *original* The Flickering Torch Mystery, silly me.) I even like some of the digests and the Undercover Brothers, so really it's your most favorite because how can you really choose--they're all good.:)
